Export to the EU — from any country

Fifteen country pages, each answering the questions that exporters from that country actually ask \— in the phrasing they use. The rules are the same for everyone; the misconceptions are different everywhere.

Every answer on every page carries the regulation, the article and the date it was last verified. Nothing here is legal advice; everything is checkable.

Choose your country

China

Direct shipping, suspended listings, the CE-certificate mistake, Seller Central upload, Temu and TikTok Shop.

India

Why IEC and GST registration do nothing for the EU side, responsible person costs, marketplace enforcement.

Vietnam

EVFTA doesn't exempt product rules, furniture hits three layers (GPSR + EUDR + formaldehyde), agri-exports.

Thailand

Trade preferences vs product rules, Amazon suspensions, labelling.

Türkiye

The 1996 customs union removes duties, not product rules — the most expensive misconception in Turkish export.

United States

Amazon suspended thousands of US listings in 2025 for missing a Responsible Person. Where to upload, what it costs, VAT/OSS.

Indonesia

Palm oil is on the EUDR deforestation list. CE doesn't replace GPSR. Garments and electronics.

Bangladesh

REACH restricted substances in textiles (azo dyes, formaldehyde). Factory vs buyer — who carries the duty.

South Korea

The EU-Korea FTA is a tariff discount, not a regime. K-beauty: cosmetics have their own Responsible Person (Reg. 1223/2009).

Japan

The EU-Japan EPA is the world's largest trade agreement — product rules sit on top. Precision machinery, food.

Brazil

EUDR hits hardest: coffee, soy, cattle and timber all on the deforestation list. EU-Mercosur won't change that.

Pakistan

GSP+ removes tariffs, not REACH restrictions in textiles. Azo dyes, formaldehyde, phthalates.

Malaysia

Palm oil (EUDR), medical devices (MDR/IVDR), electronics.

Taiwan

CE marking ≠ GPSR compliance — the most common misconception among Taiwanese electronics manufacturers.

United Kingdom

Great Britain runs its own regime; Northern Ireland follows EU rules under the Windsor Framework.

The one thing that applies to everyone

Since 13 December 2024, the EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) requires almost every consumer product sold in the EU to have a Responsible Person established inside the EU \— named on the product, holding the technical file, and reachable by authorities. No trade agreement, customs union or tariff preference changes that. The country pages above explain what else applies on top, and where the traps are.
