How much CO₂ does air freight really cost?
Roughly 35–70× sea freight per tonne-km. A 20-tonne shipment over 10,000 km is about 3.2 tonnes CO₂e by sea and 120 by air — the calculator shows both side by side.

Does this count for CBAM?
No. CBAM covers emissions embedded in the production of the goods, not the transport leg. This calculator is for comparing logistics choices and for sustainability reporting of your own operations.
