Your listing is blocked for GPSR. Here is the order.

A GPSR block on Amazon or another marketplace is not a fine and not a ban: it is the marketplace refusing to sell your product until an economic operator established in the EU is responsible for it, with a name and address visible to the buyer. That is Regulation (EU) 2023/988, Article 16, applicable since 13 December 2024. Amazon stopped its own Responsible Person service, so this now lands on you. This page is the shortest route from blocked to selling.

This page names the regulation behind every step. It is reference material, not legal advice; if your product is genuinely unsafe, no Responsible Person fixes that.

1. Read what the block actually says

Seller Central shows the block under Performance → Account Health → Policy compliance → Regulatory compliance. It names what is missing: almost always the Responsible Person, sometimes also labelling or a technical file item. Fix the named thing, not everything at once.

2. Check whether you already ARE the Responsible Person

If your company is established in the EU and you import the product yourself, you are the importer under Article 16(1)(c) and the Responsible Person duties sit with you by law. You do not need to hire anyone; you need your own name and address on the listing and the product, and the documentation in order.

3. If you are outside the EU: appoint someone

The order of preference in Article 16: the manufacturer if established in the EU, otherwise an authorised representative appointed in writing, otherwise the fulfilment service provider established in the EU. A UK company does not qualify post-Brexit. Whoever it is: their name and postal address must appear on the product or packaging, and on the listing.

4. Have the documents ready before you appeal

the technical documentation (design, manufacture, safety assessment, labelling), proof of the appointment in writing, and traceability: type, batch or serial number on the product. Without the file, an appeal re-blocks.

5. Submit, then re-check the listing fields

Upload the Responsible Person details in the marketplace's compliance form, and make sure the same name and address appear in the listing itself. Mismatches between the form and the listing are a common reason a second block follows the first fix.

Who can do this for you?

We keep an editorial list of providers: Responsible Person and authorised representative services, labelled and free to be listed; paid extended listings are marked as such. Nobody pays to appear as “recommended” — see get listed.

Does GPSR even apply to my product?

Consumer products, broadly: if you sell to consumers in the EU, it applies unless your product has its own full harmonised regime (toys, electronics with CE regimes and so on carry their own rules plus GPSR basics). Run the seven-question check; it names every regime that applies to what you import, with the article it rests on.
